Dr. Maxwell Opoku-Afari
First Deputy Governor
The Bank of Ghana
Banks will be drastically impacted for months, probably years by the Global Pandemic. Bottom line: this will not be a short-term event so banks must prepare for the long haul. The stakes for digital transformation have increased dramatically. The Covid-19 Pandemic is widening the Corporate Digital Divide and we’re seeing the most rapid organizational transformation ever.
This need to virtualize work due to Covid-19 is driving digital transformation and deepening differences across banks and across other organizations at an incredible rate. The Pandemic is also driving Sub-Saharan Africa towards its first Recession in 25 years. There is an incredible emergence to achieving Digitization along with Operational Resilience like never before.
In light of the current scenario, banks must pay close attention to current deficiencies in Digital Transaction Services, AML/CTF, sanctions, legislative activities, screening, monitoring and all corresponding banking activities that may impact their underlying clients. The banks need to adopt a customer focused view and embrace a fully digital strategy that would include the end-to-end modernization of the bank's infrastructure while adhering to the recent changes and reforms.
Through the Digital Banking Summit 2021, we bring forth a C-level platform that will concentrate on global trends and disruptions, how market players can ascertain opportunities and respond to the threats. A gathering that focuses on the big issues from Fintech Disruption to Financial Inclusion, Blockchain and Regtech.
With Keynotes, Candid Conversations, Fire-Side Chat, Panels, and Focus sessions we aim to outline the challenges and opportunities within the industry, the content has been curated to educate, inspire and empower leaders to advance their pioneering strategies and integration - effectively cultivating their bottom line.
